PBC Skywarn Classes

Training is conducted in the spring and summer prior to "Hurricane Season" by NWS WFO Miami meteorologists. Training is conducted at local approved sites.

If your group would like to host a training secession, contact PBC Skywarn Coordinator Charlie Benn or NWS WFO-Miami Skywarn Coordinator meteorologist Robert Molleda.

How Long Is The Class

We request a minimum of 20 attendees to host a class. Training is free and all training material will be provides by the WFO-Miami and PBC Skywarn.  

There are two level of classes. A 2 hour " Basic Spotter" course and a Advanced 4 hour class. Classes hosted by PBC Skywarn are a combined 6 hour Basic & Advanced class.

10AM-1Pm conducted by NWS Miami.

This class is the basic and advanced SKYWARN course. There will not be a lunch break, but there will be breaks with snack and drink machines. You may bring your own lunch. A refrigerator is available. A photo ID (driver’s license, etc.) is required to enter the building.
